DEAR RETRO HOUSEWIFE
Retro FashionLooking For 50s Style House Dresses, 2007-08-15Dear Retro Housewife, I was wondering where I could find house dresses like they wore in the 50's (style of the dress). Where can I find them and what do I need to be on the lookout for? Thanks. Ashley RE: Looking
The "house dresses" that I think you mean are called "house coats" (at least the ones that I have come across thus far). The 1950s house coat was a step above a robe in formality, i.e. you could answer the door in a house coat whereas being in your robe would have been a bit uncomfortable. House coats, as the name implies were worn around the house while doing housework, cooking or lounging. RH Status: IN PROGRESS |
