1977 Pre washed denim pantsuit

As you can see, women's liberation rolls on full steam ahead, and the rag industry obliges with variations of the pant suit, an appropriate choice to wear to one's own liberation as pants, being hitherto worn mostly by men, are a symbol of power.

The pant suit, adorned with the "bell bottom" also made it possible for women to finally break free of the shackles of highly stylish, but liberation-inhibiting shoes such as pumps, mules or stilettos, and instead wear comfortable low or no heeled shoes that were concealed by the wide leg of the pant. (Nobody did.)

Makers of comfortable women's shoes were sorely disappointed, however, when the majority of women instead opted to add a few inches to their height through the use of a new discovery, the platform shoe. Stay tuned for the 80s when women notice that Football Players are the most powerful of all, and adjust their fashions accordingly...

DITTOS. FEEL THE FIT (1975)

Dittos. Feel the Fit.
DITTOS. FEEL THE FIT (1975) Did you wear DITTOS? I sure did! Dittos were a MUST HAVE when I was in Junior High. They also marked the beginning of the crazy designer jeans phase, when nothing came between Brooke and her Calvin's (because nothing could), and the more expensive the jeans, the better. I had Dittos, Calvin Klein's, Gloria van der Bilt, Jordache (The Jordache Look...), probably more, because that's all that mattered back then. Never mind that I had to lie down on the bed and have my sisters help me zip them up.

Dittos Today

Dittos are still around today, and have adapted to current fashion trends. But you can still tell they are Dittos! Here is a selection of modern Dittos

WHILE DRESS DESIGNERS SING MIDI BLUES
Having Biggest Year In History' Claim Jubilant 'Fun Clothes' Firm's
It's "happy time" for manufacturers of California sportswear. Although dress designers may be singing the midi blues and eyeing diminishing revenues many firms specializing in pants and fun clothes report that business is up 25 per cent and more over last year. (Read entire fashion article)

Winter's Fashion Add-On

Fashion comes in layers this year, and nowhere is the layered look more practical, more stylish than on the leg.

A combination of pantyhose and knee-highs carries the new look right down to the toe and provides added warmth when temperatures dip. And combinations are almost endless. Basic beige pantyhose with beige knee-highs sporting a neat cable design or narrow rib for that monotone look. Or colorful opaque pantyhose with herringbone or geometric knee-highs for accent.

The layered leg really gives a girl a chance to pull it all together in her own unique way. With skirts, culottes or shorts - the layered leg is fashion's answer to a cold, winter day. October, 1972

Forgettable Pantsuit but (my) first sighting of a non "white" model in national catalog. Some of you young'uns reading this may find it strange that I point this out, but everything pre 1970 has been pretty WASPY thus far.
