THE KAFFEEKLATSCH PAGEWhat the heck is a Kaffeeklatsch?Why funny you should ask! A Kaffee-Klatsch is a German term for getting together with friends over coffee and shooting the breeze! If the Kaffeeklatch is held at home, the hostess will make the coffee and usually some sort of coffee cake, or one of the guests will stop at the bakery and pick up some coffee cake.  Coffee Poster - Artist: Kim Klassen - Size: 20 X 5 inches Atmosphere is important, and the table is usually decorated with candles or flowers, and the younger, hipper crowd will have trendy coffee cups (NOT Mutti's basic white or flower pattern cups and saucers), perhaps inspired by Picasso or the modern designer du jour.
No matter what the social status of the person, from the punk with the Mohawk to the society lady, in Germany, everybody will take time out to sit down and have coffee and cake once in awhile. (However the conversation will probably be different...) Here is a recipe for "Bienenstich" (Bee Sting), a spiffy German coffee cake!

especially amongst the university crowd. (Duh, like guys have to be
talked into eating cake!)
