ARDEI UMPLUTZI (Stuffed Green Peppers), Romanian
This recipe is a variation of: SARMALUTZE DIN FRUNZE DE VITZA
Clean the inside of peppers. Fill, cover with water (scantily) or stock, add salt, pepper, dill and cook slowly about 1 hour.
Melt butter, blend in flour, add minced onion, and cook until golden brown. Add Remaining Ingredients and Stir.
Add tomato sauce (or 2 cups tomato juice and broth and stir over low heat until smooth. Pour over cooked peppers and shake pan to distribute tomato sauce evenly. Simmer about 10 minutes.
Serve peppers with sour cream or yogurt. Serves 4.Goes with: SARMALUTZE DIN FRUNZE DE VITZA - Main Recipe.
