RECIPES FROM THE RETRO HOUSEWIFE
Barbecued Meat Loaf, American
Mix the meat loaf ingredients until thoroughly combined. Divide the mixture in half, form into 2 loaves, and place on a baking sheet.
Combine the sauce ingredients and spread over each loaf. Use a metal spatula to pick up the loaves and place directly on the cooking grate. Grill over indirect medium-low heat (about 300° F) with the lid closed, for about 50-60 minutes. A meat thermometer inserted horizontally through the top of the loaf should read 155° F. Remove from grill and let set for 10 minutes. Cut into ½ inch thick slices and serve with remaining sauce.

HAVE A COMMENT, QUESTION OR RECIPE OF YOUR OWN?
I would like to thank Newspaperarchive for putting together such a fabulous service, and placing our Nation's history right at our fingertips. Many of these wonderful recipes are ones I stumbled upon quite by accident while sleuthing through the decades in my quest to assemble the world of the American housewife. RH
