SIDE DISH

Basic Stuffing Mixture, American

This is a recipe for a basic stuffing for turkey, chicken, duck or goose. You can take this basic stuffing recipe and add additional ingredients for different flavors.

Ingredients
  • 2 quarts bread cubes, lightly toasted
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped '
  • 3 cups' finely chopped celery
  • 1 cup finely chopped parsley - (Optional)
  • 3 cups broth, stock or boullion - (Optional)
Preparation Instructions

Combine the bread cubes with onion, celery and parsley. If you are going to stick with just a basic stuffing recipe, you can saute the onions and celery before adding to the bread cubes for more flavor. Pour stock or broth over bread cube mixture and mix. Stuff bird just prior to roasting.

Excess stuffing can be baked in a casserole along side with your bird for the last hour or so.
