MAIN COURSEBEINLØSE FUGLE (Boneless Birds), NorwegianIngredients
Preparation InstructionsHave butcher slice round steak very thin. Then pound it. If meat slice is big, cut in half. On each slice of meat sprinkle salt and pepper, and add a slice of bacon and chopped onions. Roll up and tie with a string. Make the "Birds" the size of a small bird. Dip them in flour and brown in butter, margarine or fat. When browned on all sides, put into a covered kettle. To the fat in the frying pan, add 1 tbsp. flour and brown to golden brown. Add 1 cup water and stir to a smooth sauce. Pour this sauce over the "Birds" in the kettle and simmer until the meat is tender. Before serving remove strings. Served with potatoes, cooked rice or vegetables, stewed cabbage or vegetable salad (green). Contributed by Mrs. D. Eide, 1950HAVE A COMMENT, QUESTION OR RECIPE OF YOUR OWN? Send it in! |
