BILLY GOATS (Cookies), American

Ingredients

• 1 cup shortening (or half butter and half shortening)
• 1 1/2 cups sugar
• 3 eggs, beaten light
• 2 tbsp. sour milk
• 3 cups flour
• 1 tsp. cinnamon
• 1/4. tsp, cloves
• 1 tsp. soda
• Pinch of salt
• 1 tsp. vanilla
• 1 cup nut meats
• 1 cup dates, cut small (may be omitted if nuts are black walnuts)

Preparation Instructions

Cream butter, add sugar, mix well, then add eggs which have been beaten, then the milk. Sift all the dry ingredients together end add to the first mixture, a little at a time. Add nuts and dates. Bake at 350° until light brown.
