Pretty Things For Valentine's Day + Yoox Code

Pretty Things are Back Again!

Just when we thought it was safe to go back into the stores....

I am such a sucker when it comes to pretty things, and the Christmas season is very dangerous to my pocket book what with all the stores decked out in their very finest! Now Valentine's day is around the corner and I'll be gosh darned if it isn't happening again! (The bling is from the "Pink Panther Collection")
Pink Panther Diamonds

The sad fact is that I would rather shop for my own Valentine's day gift than for my sweeties! He will want something with a microchip and processor, and while I think some processors are very pretty, they are dull and boring to shop for.

I want color and twinkle and sparkle! I want a holiday where we buy ourselves a gift!

Oh Well, Enjoy the pretty things... If you happen to be my sweetie....hint hint hint...

Oh, and before I forget...Yoox has another free shipping coupon code:

Things That Make Me Feel Old...

It doesn't seem like that long ago that I was standing in line at the DMV on my 16th birthday nervously awaiting my driver's test so I could get my license and the freedom that came with it! Now I am sitting in the passenger seat, nervously scanning the road and trying to cram at least 10 year's driving experience into my 15 1/2 year old daughter.

I remember the age well...nothing could stop me or hurt me, the driving teacher was an old fogey, and that WAS a complete stop...sort of. Fun, was cramming all my friends into the car, blasting the radio, and ignoring the speed limit just for the heck of it. Seat belts? Would have never crossed my mind, and I don't think they worked anyway. So my question is...

What were they thinking? Who ever had the bright idea to let 16 year olds drive? Why am I suddenly empathising with my old fogey driving teacher?

Darn Karma!

Jacob, Meet Emily

Having a baby? If so, chances are you will name him Jacob if he is a boy and Emily if she is a girl.

Little Jacob and Emily, my how cute they are!

If Jacob and Emily aren't on your list, then I bet one of these is: Michael, Matthew, Christopher, Joshua, Ethan (For Boys) and Madison, Ashley, Hannah, Sarah, Alexis, Emma, Olivia (For Girls).

Here's a tidbit for those of you who have trouble remembering names: When in doubt (for males), guess Michael. The name Michael was number 1 from 1961 all the way up to 1999, when it was booted by the now popular Jacob. Michael is still hanging in there at #2 though!

So remember, his name is probably Michael!

...or if he is still in diapers, Jacob.

Happy New Year! 2007!!!! How did THAT Happen?

Time sure flies doesn't it? It seems like just yesterday that we were celebrating the new millenium, and now the first decade of such is almost over! Yikes. Well, I hope you made it through the holidays with your sanity and body intact...the housewife is particularly busy this time of year what with all the family obligations!

We had a very nice Christmas here (thank you for asking), family and friends were here, I cooked a goose for Christmas dinner (1st time...brave aren't I?) and this year, I finally managed to do 95% of my Christmas shopping online, and only one gift came late! (Paint ball equipment I bought for my son...WHAT WAS I THINKING?).

Don't worry though, he had enough timely gifts to keep him occupied, and I am now trying to figure out what to do with the huge piles of boxes, paper and ribbons that one has left over after hosting Christmas. It is INSANE! It'll take me 3 months to recycle it!

But, I have to say, doing my shopping online is a wonderful thing. I got everyone gifts that they liked, because I used the time I normally spend driving around to various stores, browsing and tracking down exactly what I was looking for. And UPS and Fedex played Santa and dropped them right at my door. Heaven! Next I am going to try grocery shopping online, but I digress!

Happy New Year Everybody! Let's make it a GREAT YEAR!
