CHOCOLATE INTRIGUE, American
Sift together flour, baking powder and salt.
Cream butter, gradually adding sugar. Cream well. Blend in one egg at a time, beating well after each addition. Combine milk and vanilla.
Add alternately with the dry ingredients, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Blend well after each addition.
Turn two-thirds of batter into a well-greased and lightly floured tube pan. Add to remaining batter the syrup, soda and peppermint. Mix well.
Spoon chocolate batter over white batter. DO NOT MIX. Bake at 350° for 65 to 70 minutes.Goes with: chocolate frosting - Frost with:.
