RECIPES FROM THE RETRO HOUSEWIFE

DESSERT

COKOLADOVA RULADA (Chocolate Roll), Czechoslovakian

Ingredients
  • 5 eggs separated
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup cocoa
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup whipping cream
Preparation Instructions

Beat yolks and sugar for 10 minutes. Add cocoa and flour, mixed, vanilla and egg whites, beaten stiff. Grease a 10 x 16 " shallow pan well. Spread batter into pan, let bake 10 or 12 minutes in 350° oven. Turn out on towel sprinkled with powdered sugar, roll while hot and cover with a damp cloth. Let cool. Before serving, unroll, spread with sweetened whipped cream or with ice cream and roll up again. Place on platter, cover with fudge frosting or more whipped cream and shaved chocolate and serve in slices.
