Golden Sugar Cookies, American

These are the cookies we made this Christmas! They are your standard sugar cookies and perfect for cutting into shapes and decorating!

Ingredients

• 2 ½ c. sifted flour
• 1 t. baking soda
• 1 t. cream of tartar
• ¼ t. salt
• 1 c. butter softened
• 1 t. vanilla
• ½ t. lemon extract
• 2 c. sugar
• 3 egg yolks

Preparation Instructions

Sift flour, soda, cream of tartar and salt together. Set aside. Cream butter and extracts together until butter is soft and smooth. Add the sugar gradually, creaming until fluffy after each addition. Add yolks one at a time, beating well after each addition. Add dry ingredients in fourths to the creamed mixture, beating until blended after each addition. Form dough into 1-inch balls and place about two inches apart on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350˚ for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
