MAIN COURSEHERINGSALAT (Herring Salad), GermanThis recipe, or a variation of this recipe are often served as a light meal on Christmas Eve. Smoked salmon on bread and some Champagne go well with it! Ingredients
Preparation InstructionsCut meat, apples, pickles, beets, anchovies, pickles or pumpkin, herrings, potatoes into very small cubes. Add vinegar, oil, mustard, pepper, salt and some sugar. Mix and let stand for several hours (or in refrigerator overnight). Next day, pour off some of the juice that has accumulated, add chopped eggs and mayonnaise.
