JACK-O-LANTERN PIE, American
HALLOWEEN IS A TIME for family projects - like carving pumpkins, designing costumes and making treats. The children can be great helps in making and passing out those Halloween treats to the fairies and elves at the door. Here's a cute and quick idea for Halloween dinner:
Prepare recipe fur biscuit dough as directed on package and roll out to 8-inch circle. Cut a jack-o-lantern face with a knife leaving holes for mouth, nose and eyes. Combine mix with tomato juice in saucepan; heat to boiling, stirring occasionally. Stir in frankfurters, pineapple and carrots. Turn into round 2-quart casserole and top with biscuit jack-o-lantern. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, until deep golden brown. Serves six.

I would like to thank Newspaperarchive for putting together such a fabulous service, and placing our Nation's history right at our fingertips. Many of these wonderful recipes are ones I stumbled upon quite by accident while sleuthing through the decades in my quest to assemble the world of the American housewife. RH
