Easter Nest Salad

Toss very finely shredded western iceberg lettuce with drained crushed pineapple and arrange into "nests" on salad plates or around the Easter ham. Fill nests with canned apricot halves, rounded side up, and maraschino cherries.

RECIPES FROM THE RETRO HOUSEWIFE

DESSERT

Kadaif, Albanian

Ingredients
  • Shredded Wheat
  • Ground Walnuts
  • Sugar
  • Melted Butter

    • Syrup:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Cinnamon to taste
Preparation Instructions

Separate shredded wheat squares into halves. Arrange halves on bottom of medium size ungreased deep baking pan. Sprinkle the ground walnuts and sugar over halves; pour melted butter sparingly over them. Cover with other halves of shredded wheat. Bake at 20 minutes at 325°. Cool.

Syrup:

Prepare syrup: boil the sugar, water and cinnamon about 5 minutes and pour hot over cooled shreddies and let soak until completely absorbed. Serve with whipped cream on top.
