Baking Pan Size

Give particular attention to the size of the pan in which you do your baking. Success or failure often depends upon your choice. A too-deep pan will prevent food from browning; a too-shallow one will allow food to run over into your oven.

RECIPES FROM THE RETRO HOUSEWIFE

MAIN COURSE

KOEFTE (Meat Balls), Turkish

Ingredients
  • 2 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1 cup bread crumbs or crushed salted crackers
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup parsley
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. cumin (powdered)
  • ½ tsp. black pepper
  • 1 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg
Preparation Instructions

Preheat oven for 350° F. Mix the ingredients in a large mixing bowl. Knead the mixture until all the ingredients are mixed with the meat. Then roll it into small balls the size of a walnut. Place them on a cookie sheet and put in the oven and bake for 30 to 35 minutes.
