Lamb Stew With Dumplings, American

War Revives Community Dinners

Ingredients
  • 6 lbs. lamb breast, cut in cubes
  • 1 cup flour
  • 6 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon pepper
  • 20 small onions
  • 3 cups cubed carrots
  • 2 cups diced turnips
  • 4 cups potatoes, sliced
  • 1 recipe dumplings
Preparation Instructions

Wipe meat with cloth and roll in flour, salt and pepper, place meat in large stew kettle and just cover with boiling water. Simmer, covered, for three hours. Add the vegetables and continue to simmer for 35 minutes. Fifteen minutes before serving time drop dumplings on top of stew by tablespoonfuls.
