RECIPES FROM THE RETRO HOUSEWIFE

SAUCES

MUSHROOM SAUCE, Russian

This sauce recipe goes together with the bitkis recipe (Russian meat balls), but I thought it can stand on its own and be used for other sauce needs as well!

Ingredients
  • 2 tbsp. butter
  • 1 tbsp. flour
  • 1 cup fresh or canned mushrooms, cut in pieces
  • 1 cup stock
  • ½ cup fresh or sour cream
  • Salt and pepper to taste
Preparation Instructions

Add butter to frying pan where bitkis were cooked, stir in flour, brown slightly. Add fresh or canned mushrooms, add stock and cook until mushrooms are done, add cream and serve with bitkis.

Goes with: bitkis - Russian meat balls.
