RECIPES FROM THE RETRO HOUSEWIFE

DESSERT

Oatmeal Fruit Cookies, American

Ingredients
  • ¾ c. butter or margarine
  • 1 c. brown sugar, packed
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 c. whole wheat flour
  • 1 c. rolled oats
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ½ t. baking soda
  • 1 t. baking powder
  • 1 t. cinnamon
  • 1 c. cut-up candied cherries
  • 1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
Preparation Instructions

Cream butter, sugar and eggs until well blended. Mix dry ingredients together. Add to butter and egg mixture. Mix well, adding only enough milk to make dough that is easy to handle. Mix in fruits and nuts.

Drop by teaspoonful on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350˚ for 8 to 10 minutes or until browned.
