DESSERTOVOCNE KNEDLIKY (Fruit Dumplings), CzechoslovakianIngredients
Preparation InstructionsHeat milk and butter to boiling point. Add flour all at once and stir vigorously until a smooth ball forms. Remove from fire and let cool 5 minutes. Add eggs one at a time beating well after each addition. On a floured board make a roll 1 ½ inches thick. Cut in pieces the size of walnuts. Then cover the clean dry cherries (plums or small apricots) with the dough. Seal well. Put 6 or 7 dumplings in vigorously boiling water. Boil about 5 to 7 minutes. Take them out of the water and keep them covered and warm until they are served. On the plate cover them with dry cottage cheese, sugar and melted butter.
