PERSONAL GROWTH & SELF CARE FOR HOUSEWIVES
Personal Growth is of course a very broad topic, but it is a very important one. The last things we Retros want to do is expend all of our energy on others so that there is nothing left for ourselves. Taking time out to pursue your own interests will not only benefit you, it will benefit your family by producing a happier, more well adjusted and interesting wife and mother.
After all, there is only so far you can stretch the topic of dirty diapers as a conversation piece! Follow your interests, your heart or your soul...but be sure and take the trip! Just in case your interests, heart and soul are too tired to go anywhere, here are some suggestions!
- Volunteering and Charity - I recommend this when the kids are in school, but not before...for your own sanity!
- Hobbies such as gardening, quilting, jam making, skydiving or amateur sleuth. One thing I would like to do is learn how to play the electric guitar and start a Scorpions tribute band.
- Go back to school! Doesn't need to be for a degree, you can take classes at the local community college or even audit classes at a 4 year college or university.

That's right! You are in charge of entertainment. All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy, and Jill gets far too comfy in her old sweats. A stress free weekend away from home or even a day trip or outing can do wonders for you! You need a change of scenery, something to break up the monotony of work and your regular routine. Don't get me wrong, a regular routine is great, but when you look back on your life, it ain't going to be laundry on Mondays, vacuuming on Tuesdays that you'll remember. It'll be the fun times you had and the trips you took! So make sure you have some of those!
We try to get away for a week-end at least once a month. Sometimes we venture further away, sometimes we just explore the area and don't go farther than 20 miles. It's amazing how the stress just melts away when you get away. As long as you do it right...
