APPETIZERPESTE MARINAT (Marinated Fish), RomanianIngredients
Preparation InstructionsClean and wash fish, cut in about 12 large pieces. Fry, unsalted, in hot oil in heavy pan. Drain on paper. Add to remaining oil in pan, the large thin slices of onion, sauté (do not brown) just enough to soften onions, them add the bay leaves, pepper and the 5 whole cloves of garlic. Sauté a few more minutes -- do not brown. Add the wine vinegar and cool mixture. Sprinkle very little salt on each piece of fried fish and arrange one layer in glass or porcelain jar, spread onion mixture over and repeat until jar is filled. Seal airtight. Store in refrigerator after 3 days. Can be store in refrigerator for 2 or 3 months, Serve as appetizer. Serves 12 or more.
