Cleaning With Vinegar

Vinegar, as you may or may not know can be a very effective cleaning agent when used in the right situations. Vinegar is also non-toxic and therefore safe to use in the kitchen, and also protects the environment by limiting the chemicals going down your drains and into the ocean.

RECIPES FROM THE RETRO HOUSEWIFE

SALAD

Salad (Ala Arabi), Arabian

Ingredients
  • Tomatoes
  • Green Onions
  • Lettuce
  • Green Peppers
  • Celery
  • Cucumbers
  • Parsley
  • Black Olives
  • Peppermint, a little
  • 3 or 4 lemons
  • Garlic
  • Black Pepper
  • Cayenne pepper
  • ½ cup olive oil
Preparation Instructions

The amount of salad is determined by the number of persons served.

Chop up quite fine the tomatoes, green onion, lettuce, green pepper, celery, cucumbers, parsley, black olives and a little peppermint, and mix in a bowl. Squeeze 3 or 4 lemons (according to taste and pour the juice into the bowl. Crush some garlic and put in, pour in the mixture of black pepper, cayenne and ½ cup of olive oil and mix well half an hour before serving.
