- The CuteKid contest runs monthly contests by age group,
and also have a yearly contest, i.e. 2007 Cute Kid of the year. I am
entering my two nieces, so don't bother entering your kids... ;-).

2008 Beauty Pageant Sponsorships
Well, I am doing it again! Two more little beauty pageant contestants
are receiving small sponsorships from Retro Housewife.
 Left: This
is Abriel and she is 8 years old. Abriel will be competing in the " Dream
Girls" Competition, at the state level at the end of the month.
Her mother says she loves to do pageants and is excited about the upcoming
competition.
On the right, we have little Patricia and she is 4 years old.
She is the
2008 Miss Pee Wee Sunburst Queen for the North and Northwest
Harris County Area.
On February 22, 2008 she entered the regional competition at
Greenspoint
Mall, her first pageant ever, and brought home the crown. She
will be representing her area Memorial Day Weekend at the State
Finals held in Houston at the Sheraton Brookhollow.

2007 Beauty Pageant Sponsorship
I get the occasional request to sponsor this and that, and when the a
sponsorship makes sense, and would fit in to Retro-Housewife.com, (and I
can afford it), I do! Actually, this is the first sponsorship Retro
Housewife is doing. I thought it sounded like fun! We'll see how it
goes, and hopefully our little beauty contestant will do well!
Without further ado, here she is!
Starla B. won the Sunburst Beauty Pageant for Virginia, and she (and
her mother) will be attending the national pageant in Atlanta this
August.
(Sunburst U.S.A., the company running the beauty pageant is in 43
States, Canada and Puerto Rico. According to their website, they have
been around for 26+ years.)

receive an 8 x 10 advertisement in the
 beauty
pageant book), the cost is $150, and the deadline is June 14, 2007!

- That grandmother of beauty contests, the Miss America Pageant, turns 35 next week, but
Atlantic City never loved her more.
..."Some 25,000 persons usually watch the final night of the pageant." ...
"I'VE BEEN TO some of these other contests and I know what they're like," said Mrs. John M. Alton, chairman of the hostess committee for the pageant. "The finest young girls from good families come here. Because we have careful controls, we don't have any of these wild show type things like the others." ...
"Miss America sure ain't a leg show anymore," an oldtimer said. "The girls today are nearly all good clean college kids. It's a change from the old days. I remember some of the bags they used to bring in here."

But just who or what is Miss America? To some, including the executive director of the pageant, Miss Lenora Slaughter, she's the "all America girl -lovely to look at, talented, charming, well-educated and eminently respectable."
