RECIPES FROM THE RETRO HOUSEWIFE
STUFFED CABBAGE, Hungarian
Mix ground beef, rice, onion (browned in fat), red pepper, pepper, salt and raw egg. Make meat balls of this mixture and boil in salty water for 1 hour.
Brown onion in fat, add red pepper and sauerkraut. Add the juice in which the meat balls were cooked and cook together for 10 minutes. Mix the sour cream, and flour, add to the sauerkraut and boil. Serve with the meat balls.

I would like to thank Newspaperarchive for putting together such a fabulous service, and placing our Nation's history right at our fingertips. Many of these wonderful recipes are ones I stumbled upon quite by accident while sleuthing through the decades in my quest to assemble the world of the American housewife. RH
