Sugar Topped Pies, American

For the luscious pies use frozen individual fruit pies.

Ingredients

• Frozen individual fruit pies
• Shortening or slightly beaten egg white
• Sugar

Preparation Instructions

Remove pies from carton; place on cookie sheet. Bake in a hot oven (125 degrees F.) 3 to 4 minutes, or until crust begins to soften slightly. Remove from oven. Cut out decoration in top and remove piece of crust. Brush each pie with shortening or slightly beaten egg white; sprinkle with sugar. Return to oven; continue baking about 25 minutes or until crust is browned.
