SIDE DISHSURKAL (Sour Cabbage), NorwegianIngredients
Preparation InstructionsChop a small head of cabbage very fine and soak in water. In a saucepan melt 2 tbsp. margarine or butter, add 1 heaping tbsp. flour, salt and pepper to taste, and 1 tbsp. sugar. Blend well together and add ¼ cup cold water. Cook slowly to make a thick paste. Remove cabbage from water and add to paste in the saucepan. Add 1 tbsp, caraway seeds, cook slowly, stirring occasionally, in order to prevent sticking to the pan.
