RECIPES FROM THE RETRO HOUSEWIFE

BAKED GOODS

WILLIAMSBURG SPOON BREAD, American

Ingredients
  • 1 cup corn meal
  • 4 beaten eggs
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup cold milk
  • ½ tsp. salt
  • 2 tbsp, butter
Preparation Instructions

Stir corn meal into boiling water which contains the salt. Stir 1 minute, remove from fire, add butter. Beat well, add beaten eggs and beat cold milk into batter. Beat again and pour into hot buttered baking dish. Bake 25 minutes in a hot oven (375°). Serve immediately from baking dish. Serve with butter, maple syrup or honey.
